The Museum Quarter is a unique location in Amsterdam with no fewer than four world-class cultural institutions: the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Concertgebouw.

Because of the renovations of the buildings, Amsterdam expects the number of visitors will rise to 5 million a year. The city authorities see a big chance for the Museum Quarter. The four culturul institutions have to stay the number 1 attraction.

The exhibition Museum Square, the cultural heart of Amsterdam, 1891-2020 looks at the history and the changes needed to establish a stronger, metropolitan and cultural image for the Museum Quarter.
