English will be spoken during this event
Chanukah, the festival of lights, is an ancient Jewish holiday. This year we have a very special festival on the agenda. The Chanukah Concert Foundation and the Jewish Community of Amsterdam will be celebrating the 1st night of Chanukah by jointly lighting the Chanukia (traditional eight armed candelabra) on the stage of The Concertgebouw. We’ve put together a special program which will appeal to both a Jewish and non-Jewish audience. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Musicians and Repertoire
We are again inviting a young and inspiring Israeli soloist for this special evening: Cantor Israel Nachman (from the Tel Aviv International Synagogue). Cantor Nachman will be accompanied by a string quartet, clarinet and vocal ensemble including Nadia David, Noa Eyl, Ken Gould, Gilad Nezer, and Tal Strauss conducted by Barry Mehler. We will be performing a broad spectrum program incorporating Jewish, Israeli, classical, klezmer and contemporary music. Concert patron is Leo Samama.
