Choir of King’s College, Cambridge
The Choir of King’s College, Cambridge is virtually synonymous with Christmas and Christmas carols all over the world. Since 1918 the choir has held a Christmas Eve service in its home chapel, which has been broadcast live over television for over sixty years. The centenary celebration of A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols coincides with the departure of conductor Stephen Cleobury, the choir’s inspiring leader since 1982, who is conducting one last Christmas tour.
For nearly six centuries, The Choir of King’s College has sung daily services in the Cambridge chapel. The choir has started off the careers of many musicians and composers. Today the choir will perform a selection of Christmas music: authentic English carols as well as classics like Silent Night. Enjoy a sparkling start to the most beautiful time of the year.
