Denis Matsuev is a hugely popular Russian pianist, always overloaded with compliments when he performs in his homeland. And also in the rest of the world this pianist is renowned for his overwhelming performance. Just before the World Cup Soccer 2018, of which Matsuev is ambassador, he dives into one of his favourite composers, Shostakovich. Matsuev was always a fan of his music, even before he won the Russian music prize named after Shostakovich.
Kammerorchester Wien - Berlin
In the Kammerorchester Wien - Berlin, the best musicians from the Wiener and Berliner Philharmoniker meet each other. It is therefore made up of the 'crème de la crème' of orchestral musicians. At the concert on the 7th of May the Kammerorchester begins with the most popular serenade in the history of classical music: Mozarts Eine kleine Nachtmusik. Then Denis Matsuev will perform Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No.1. A remarkably lively work, in which a special role is reserved for the first trumpet player Gábor Tarkövi of the Kammerorchester Wien - Berlin. The trumpet part regularly interrupts the virtuoso concerto with short ironic asides.
