The Lebanese star Nawal El Zoghbi is the main artist of the 2020 edition of SOUK. With the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and her own band, she brings Arabic and Western music toghether. And there is a lot more to experience this evening alongside the performance of Nawal El Zoghbi, for example with food and performances in the foyers, both before and after the concert.
The Nawal El Zoghbi concert starts at 19.30. The Concertgebouw opens its doors at 18:45, from that moment there is good food and there are special performances in the foyers. Please note: it is no longer possible to enter after 20.15.Nawal El Zoghbi in SOUK
The Concertgebouw is proud to present the Lebanese star Nawal El Zoghbi as the lead artist of the 2020 edition of SOUK. Her albums and her beautiful voice brought her a great international career. For the very first time she is now performing at The Concertgebouw. Nawal El Zoghbi will collaborate for this concert with the 50 musicians of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and conductor Jochen Neuffer. And of course Nawal El Zoghbi also brings her own musicians. Thus, during SOUK, Arab and Western music come together to an unprecedented experience.
Much more than a concert ...
The evening starts in the foyers with the atmosphere around the Djemaa el Fna square in Marrakech. With good food everywhere and special performances. Even after the concert, the party continues in the foyers. And according to the SOUK formula, there is much more to experience this evening in addition to the performance of Nawal El Zoghbi. The Dutch National Ballet presents the world premiere of a choreography specially made for this evening. And, together with Nai Barghouti, they bring an ode to Egyptian composer and singer Mohammed Abdel-Wahab.
