This programme features two Russian masterpieces that were created under difficult conditions. Prokofiev had to compose his Fifth Symphony under the watchful eye of the Stalinist regime. Tchaikovsky was struggling with a deeply personal crisis while he was composing his Violin Concerto. Popular violinist Bomsori Kim will play the solo, along with The Hague's Residentie Orkest.
