Ter Horst’s String Quartets No. 1 & 2
From an urge to express emotions through music, the young promising Dutch composer Maarten ter Horst wrote his String Quartets No.1 and 2 (2020). The works form a personal journey of love, doubt, fighting and hope. What stands out is the timeless, melodic musical language. With this, he shows a surprising new perspective on a classical tradition. According to the Helikon Quartet: 'His music speaks for itself, we couldn't help but fall in love with it.'
