Grieg's Peer Gynt was inspired by Norwegian folk music, in which the Hardanger fiddle is the instrument par excellence. It is only logical that Hardanger virtuoso Ragnhild Hemsing made an arrangement. Tchaikovsky's Serenade for strings is pure romance.
