To mark the fifth anniversary of A Plane Over Woods, Sam Beste presents a special intimate concert with only a small audience gathered around a 100-year-old piano. The Vernon Spring is the recording project of London-born pianist and composer Sam Beste. Blending jazz, ambient, songwriting and contemporary classical influences, his work has led to collaborations with artists including Amy Winehouse, MF DOOM, Matthew Herbert and Kendrick Lamar producer Sounwave.
A Plane Over Woods
With A Plane Over Woods, released in 2021, Beste presented his first large-scale solo project. The album emerged in the aftermath of his father's passing in 2019 and was completed during the first COVID lockdown. Subtle electronics, voices, samples, the crackle of vinyl and a hushed piano sound combine to create a unique musical world. Tonight, that world comes to life in our Choir Hall for a select audience.
