The Rising Stars series presents the stars of tomorrow playing some adventurous programmes. Tonight, Icelandic soprano Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir and pianist Kunal Lahiry present their programme Lady Lazarus. Based on a poem by Sylvia Plath, it’s a musical journey that takes in classical songs and folksongs about women struggling with and battling against overwhelming forces, at individual and societal levels – a remarkable concert by a remarkable singer.
