In his series Nieuwe Blik Terug (‘a new look back’), musician, host and documentary maker Orville Breeveld highlights composers and musicians whom history has unfairly neglected. Tonight he’ll look at Surinamese classical composers and musicians. With the help of stories and compositions by Johan Victor Dahlberg (1915-1946), Johannes Helstone (1853-1927), Eddy Snijders (1923-1990) and others, we’ll take you on a musical journey through the rich and often-neglected history of Surinamese classical music. With performances by flautist Ronald Snijders, pianist Dywel Braaf, guitarist Robby Faverey and others, it promises to be an evening full of music, heritage and discovery.
