49 free mini-concerts by 67 musicians
On Saturday 6 September, The Concertgebouw proudly presents the third edition of Concertgebouw OPEN. From 10:00 to 16:00, the doors will be wide open to all, inviting visitors to explore the building and enjoy a vibrant festival of music. Across the Main Hall, Recital Hall, Mirror Hall and various foyers, no fewer than 49 mini-concerts will be performed by 67 musicians, offering a taste of the upcoming concert season. Guests are free to wander and discover a wide range of musical styles and artists. Admission is free, but advance reservation of a timed-entry ticket is required.
According to Job Noordhof, Head of Marketing, Communication and Sales, Concertgebouw OPEN has become a powerful format for launching the season:
“With Concertgebouw OPEN, we welcome both new and returning audiences to preview the season ahead. What began as an alternative to the Uitmarkt has grown into one of the most joyful days of the year at The Concertgebouw.”
From Mahler to Piano Nights
Concertgebouw OPEN 2025 offers a rich and varied programme featuring classical music, jazz and pop. In the Main Hall, a special OPEN edition of Piano Nights will take place, alongside mini-concerts by Music Collective Amsterdam, performing excerpts from Gustav Mahler’s First Symphony. In the Choir Hall, located in the basement, young artists such as NABOU and Hamraaz will bring fresh jazz and pop sounds. The Recital Hall will host intimate chamber music performances by soprano Lilian Farahani and violinist Noa Wildschut. For younger visitors, family concerts such as My Magical Garden and Sofie Discovers South America (Dutch spoken) promise musical adventures. At every concert, Concertgebouw staff will personally welcome the audience. A full overview of the programme and participating musicians is available at concertgebouw.nl/open.
Opening the Season with Music
Concertgebouw OPEN was first held in its current form in 2023, marking the reopening of the Museumplein entrance. Its resounding success led to its establishment as an annual tradition — a festive opening to the concert season and a contemporary alternative to the former Uitmarkt. Interest in the event is high: last year, all 7,700 free tickets were claimed. Concertgebouw OPEN 2025 is made possible with the generous support of main sponsor Van Lanschot Kempen.
Free Admission with Reservation
Admission to Concertgebouw OPEN is free. To ensure a smooth flow of visitors, timed-entry tickets are required and can be reserved via concertgebouw.nl/open. Once inside, guests are welcome to stay as long as they wish.
