Statement: Urgent appeal to the Chanukah Concert Foundation

Each year, the Concertgebouw rents out its hall for the annual Jewish community's Chanukah celebration. As far as we are concerned, this year's celebration will also go ahead on December 14 next. The program is the responsibility of the organizer, the Chanukah Concert Foundation. In response to this program, we have made an urgent request to the foundation to schedule another cantor for this concert, given that the scheduled cantor has a prominent role in the Israeli army (IDF) as Chief Cantor. We are in talks with the foundation about this. The Concertgebouw emphasizes that it fully supports the celebration of Chanukah and the Jewish community.
