Young Dutch Musicians

The very best of Dutch talent can be heard in the Young Dutch Musicians series. Each artist presents their dream programme, enriched with a theatrical element. Pianist Thijs Willers, for instance, combines dramatic music with poetic pieces, whilst fellow pianist Albert Cano Smit delves into the works of Bach and Fauré: separated by centuries, yet musically connected.

Soprano Elisa Maayeshi has chosen Poulenc’s poignant monologue La voix humaine, which she describes as the pinnacle of musical theatre. ‘We’d like to combine true classics with the lesser-known repertoire,’ says the Otilka Quartet. The quartet pairs Schubert and Shostakovich with Vasks. The latter composer also features on the programme of cellist Isaac Lottman, who will also be performing a premiere by Mathilde Wantenaar.
