Classical Masterpieces

Orchestras from the Netherlands and one from neighbouring Belgium will perform the most beautiful masterpieces. The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra will feature the eminent Truls Mørk as soloist in Shostakovich's First Cello Concerto. The young Anastasia Kobekina returns with Dvořák's Cello Concerto. The Residentie Orkest will also perform Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony on the same programme. More Tchaikovsky can be heard from the flamboyant strings of Amsterdam Sinfonietta: the famous Serenade for Strings.

Under the baton of its conductor Alexei Ogrintchouk, the Phion Orchestra accompanies the refined musician Denis Kozhukhin in Grieg's Piano Concerto. His colleague Nikola Meeuwsen plays his favourite work with the North Netherlands Orchestra: Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto. The Netherlands Philharmonic surprises with Respighi's Fontane di Roma and Pini di Roma, while the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra focuses on three Czech composers.
