Great singers with a wide range of voices and timbres
For those who love a variety of voices and timbres: the Tuesday vocal series has something for everyone. Erika Baikoff and Adèle Charvet shine in the higher registers. Both are returning to their roots: Baikoff is devoting herself not only to Schumann, but also to Rachmaninoff and Medtner, whilst Charvet embraces a wide range of French composers.
Two baritones are set to grace Vocaal on Tuesday. Will Liverman, described by the press as possessing a luxurious baritone velvet, returns to the series. Recital Hall debutant Samuel Hasselhorn set himself the task of recording all of Schubert’s lieder in chronological order; he is now focusing on the lieder from the year 1826. Tenor Julian Prégardien, a familiar face, takes Beethoven’s beautiful cycle An die ferne Geliebte as his starting point and juxtaposes it with another Viennese composer, Schubert. ‘Delightful, fresh and spontaneous’ is how Prégardien’s Schubert is described.
