International singers return to their roots
New! Vocal music on Sunday afternoons. From this season onwards, you can also enjoy a vocal treat in the afternoon. World-class artists will bring colour to your Sundays. There’s no place like home: three of the singers are returning musically to their roots. The Czech Magdalena Kožená sings Janáček and Dvořák, whilst the Russian Julia Lezhneva devotes an entire recital to Rachmaninoff’s most beautiful songs.
Exotic tones resonate in the voice of Brazilian singer Bruno de Sá. The current sensation in England is Laurence Kilsby. ‘I love taking risks, especially during recitals, where you have the intimate space to play with the colours of your voice,’ he says. The tenor has put together a programme based on Andersen’s fairy tale The Little Mermaid. Lenneke Ruiten hails from the Netherlands. She has chosen Brahms, Fauré and Debussy: romanticism with a touch of French lyricism.
