In this edition of Scherpdenkers, two generations share a dialogue about their own South Africa. Stories about family history, the power of music and words, and when oceans are crossed to a place of new hope.
Anglican priest Mpho Tutu of Furth is daughter of Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Leah Tutu. Her powerful message of reconciliation and sustainability is particularly aimed at an international audience. Originally from South Africa but now living in the Netherlands, Mpho Tutu van Furth advocates for human rights, especially those of young women.
Pete Letanka studied jazz and composition at Leeds College of Music. He performs frequently with his jazz trio and is known in the UK as an inspired storyteller and presenter. As artistic director, he developed several educational projects for opera houses and festivals.
