Challem

After years of studying piano, Dutch pianist and composer Joachim Challem realized that life is about more than just music. He strongly believes that nature is the greatest teacher for all the complex thoughts a person can acquire. That is why he lives part of his life in the unknown mountains of northern Spain, where he is building his own house. In his search for his dream location, he composed on every piano he encountered. In 2022, he began releasing his first works - with great success. He entered the classical charts at number one, and his work was streamed more than 45 million times. In 2024, he released his debut album The Road, followed by two sold-out shows at The Concertgebouw and a successful tour of nine shows in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Spain. Now he is back at The Concertgebouw with the release of his new album Dyade.

Dyade

The concept of 'dyad' embodies duality and the relationship between two elements. It often suggests that each part is incomplete without the other, making it a powerful symbol of connection, duality, and the importance of both sides in creating something meaningful and whole. During his move to the rural mountains, Challem quickly discovered the theme of dyad, which seemed to occur constantly in everyday life. The stark contrasts between solitude and community, silence and movement, romance and reality reflected the balancing forces that shaped both his environment and his inner world.
