About the concert

Igor Ruhadze and Vital Stahievitch present a program dedicated to three great composers who would be celebrating anniversaries in 2021: the renowned French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, the famous Russian Sergei Prokofiev and the important Armenian composer Arno Babajanian.

Igor Ruhadze & Vital Stahievitch
Violinist Igor Ruhadze and pianist Vital Stahievitch have prepared an interesting program dedicated to these three important figures, which is not only very musically but also educationally interesting. The audience will receive a colorful booklet that tells about the life and works of Saint-Saëns, Prokofiev and Babajanian.

Duo's for violin and piano
Igor Ruhadze and Vital Stahievitch present a programme with a selection of duos for violin and piano based on special historical crossovers. What a coincidence that in 1921, when an important classical romantic of French music died, Arno Babajanian was born in the faraway Yerevan, and the young Prokofiev completed his opera The Love for Three Oranges. All three composers knew each other's works, although they belong to different time-periods and styles. Saint-Saëns, for example, strongly disliked Prokofiev's work. And Babajanian, in turn, was well acquainted with him after Prokofiev's return to the Soviet Union, and some of his works were influenced by Prokofiev.
