Scherpdenkers (clear thinkers): stories and music that make you think. Today with author Ruben Mersch. The musicians of Het Collectief play works from Ives to Rihm in a programme about polarisation. Polarisation has a bad name; we argue about everything, from major issues to minor matters. Debates threaten to get bogged down in a war of words, in which knowledge serves less to promote understanding and more as ammunition against opponents. Yet we need polarisation: conflicting opinions can be a source of insight, provided you add a good dose of curiosity.

Dutch will be spoken during this concert.
