12th Annual Chanukah Concert – Freedom!

Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, is one of the oldest and most cherished traditions in Jewish culture. For the twelfth time, we warmly invite you to celebrate Chanukah in the Main Hall of The Concertgebouw. On the second night of Chanukah, we will jointly light the Chanukia – the traditional eight-branched candelabra – on the stage, followed by a festive and varied musical programme featuring international guest artists and the Jewish Amsterdam Chamber Ensemble. This unique evening is designed to inspire and entertain audiences of all backgrounds. Jewish and non-Jewish visitors alike are warmly welcome to join this celebration of light, music, culture, and freedom.

Musicians and repertoire

In light of the social challenges facing Europe and the wider world today, this year’s program will place special emphasis on the universal theme of freedom – a celebration of resilience, identity, culture, and hope. As in previous years, the Jewish Amsterdam Chamber Ensemble will present a rich and diverse musical programme, featuring Jewish, Israeli, classical, and contemporary repertoire. We are also honored to welcome back Barry Mehler as Musical Director, Noa Eyl as Stehgeiger (Concertmaster), with Leo Samama serving once again as patron of the concert.

Refreshments

At our concert you’ll enjoy more than just music. Everyone will be treated to a special Chanukah delicacy “sufganiot” (jelly doughnuts) and kosher wine – all included in the ticket price.
