Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2

Mitsuko Uchida is an uncontested authority as an interpreter of the Viennese classics. Beethoven wrote his Second Piano Concerto as a vehicle to showcase himself as a pianist in Vienna. In no other work can we hear Mozart’s influence on Beethoven as clearly as in this piano concerto. Yet the young Beethoven regularly undercuts Mozart’s elegant perfection with light-hearted and surprising inventions. Typically Beethoven!
