Krashna Musika
Vocal Music, Orchestra
Krashna Musika is the Delft University of Technology’s student symphony orchestra and choir. Ruben de Grauw has been conducting the choir of Krashna Musika for 10 years. To celebrate this, a large symphony orchestra, two choirs and four renowned Dutch soloists will perform Verdi’s Requiem under his direction. For this project, Krashna has entered into a collaboration with the VU-Koor, the choir of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. A unique event, in which over 200 students will perform this monumental work.
Verdi wrote his famous Requiem in 1873 to commemorate the death of the Italian poet Manzoni. The piece is often likened to an opera: the music expresses the Roman Catholic funeral mass in a dramatic and breathtaking way. Verdi does not shy away from seeking emotional boundaries, taking the audience through deep despair, thunderous rage and powerful hope. A captivating experience you do not want to miss!
