This concert has an intermission
How do we look at and listen to a changing world? The West is no longer the dominant voice in the forum, with others in the world speaking up. Nature is protesting, and Fort Europe is shuddering. How are thinkers and artists responding? Who is setting the tone, and what do the dissonant notes sound like? Adriaan van Dis will give a desperately optimistic report on the findings of his mental journey. Momo Kodama will play music by Debussy, a composer inspired by the Javanese gamelan, as well as by Tan Dun and Takemitsu. Although both Asian composers are rooted in their own cultures, each in turn was inspired by Debussy.
After the concert, enjoy a drink (included in the ticket price) and chat about what you’ve heard.
Dutch will be spoken during this concert.
