Meral Polat
In 2022, Meral Polat and her trio released the debut album Ez Ki Me, a musical exploration of Polat's Alevi Kurdish roots with lyrics by her late father. The album received great reviews and was nominated for a Songlines Music Award. The album was followed by 2025's Meydana Gel, in which Meral Polat showcases her own voice. Inspired by JIN, JIYAN, AZADI (Woman, Life, Freedom), she explores female power and resistance to oppression. The album combines Anatolian and Mesopotamian music with psychedelic rock, African influences and traditional Dengbej sounds.
