As a prelude to the Mahler Festival, a special, authentic performance of Mahler's Fifth Symphony will be heard in September. The Mahler Academy Orchestra plays on instruments built along the lines of those Mahler acquired when he was conductor of the Vienna Philharmonic. Philipp von Steinaecker conducts.
