During the celebration of Amsterdam’s 750 anniversary, The Concertgebouw and Van Lanschot Kempen extended their main sponsorship until 2028. The partnership, which has existed since 2018, was festively confirmed during 'Concertgebouw on the Ring'. On the A10 ring road, near the headquarters of Van Lanschot Kempen, visitors could enjoy six different concerts with the office in the background, transformed for the occasion into a monumental representation of The Concertgebouw.
Simon Reinink, General Director of The Concertgebouw, said: "Our collaboration with Van Lanschot Kempen is very inspiring. At 'Concertgebouw on the Ring', everything came together: new audiences and music from Mahler to Stevie Wonder at a festive concert. Just like at Concertgebouw OPEN, the open day that Van Lanschot Kempen has made possible for the past two years. We look forward to continuing our partnership."
Maarten Edixhoven, Chair of the Management Board of Van Lanschot Kempen, added: "It was a unique opportunity to have The Concertgebouw close to us on the ring road for once. A wonderful moment to experience together and to confirm our multi-year partnership. This unique stage during the celebration of 750 years of Amsterdam was the perfect kick-off for the coming years of collaboration. We will continue to focus on innovating and connecting with our clients through the beauty of music."
Concertgebouw on the Ring
During 'Concertgebouw on the Ring', thousands of visitors experienced free concerts on a temporary stage above the A10 ring road. Classical music and pop came together in concerts by Trijntje Oosterhuis and the Jazz Orchestra of The Concertgebouw with Stevie Wonder, and the New European Ensemble with the music of Gustav Mahler. The festivities offered the audience in Amsterdam the opportunity to get to know both The Concertgebouw and Van Lanschot Kempen at the same time.
Young Talent
As part of the partnership, The Concertgebouw and Van Lanschot Kempen have been jointly awarding the Young Talent Award since 2019 – an incentive prize for promising musical talent. The first laureate, pianist Nikola Meeuwsen, recently became the first Dutch person ever to win the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels.
Making Music Accessible: From Concert Visits to Podcasts and Video Series
The core of the collaboration is, of course, attending concerts together at The Concertgebouw. An experience greatly appreciated by both Van Lanschot Kempen staff and their clients. Van Lanschot Kempen supports various social initiatives of The Concertgebouw. Students from special education attended concerts such as 'The Thousand and One Nights', accompanied by Van Lanschot Kempen employees. Through video and podcast series like 'You know more music than you think' and the award-winning 'Matthäus Passion' podcast, The Concertgebouw makes classical music accessible to a wider audience.
