Rising Stars

The world stars of the future can already be heard in the Recital Hall. In the Rising Stars series, young musicians tell their personal musical stories, such as Petar Pejčić: he pays tribute to his legendary role model, Mstislav Rostropovich. How do two of the most powerful personalities from twentieth-century Eastern Europe sound? The Javus Quartet juxtaposes Bacewicz with Shostakovich. 

Ava Bahari moves from Blacher via Poulenc to new work by Hillborg; she celebrates diversity. The Amelio Trio, too, blends different styles and musical languages in a single fluid movement. Humour, irony and wit are central to Camila Mandillo’s work, whilst Elionor Martínez bridges the Renaissance and the Baroque: a shift in era that transformed art into movement, colour and contrast.
