The finest orchestras and conductors, exclusively in Amsterdam
Five of the most famous symphony orchestras enchant audiences with their own unique sound. They perform programmes that can only be heard in the Netherlands in our Main Hall. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and its chief conductor Manfred Honeck open with a work by composer in residence Carlos Simon and Dvořák's beloved Ninth Symphony. Paavo Järvi develops an ever closer bond with his Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, as can be heard in Mahler's Sixth.
The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and its charismatic conductor Sir Simon Rattle will also perform Mahler: the Adagio from the Tenth Symphony, together with Beethoven's heroic Third. Pekka Kuusisto will make his debut in Amsterdam as conductor of his Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and will perform as soloist in Sibelius' heart-rending Violin Concerto. The Czech Philharmonic and its celebrated conductor Semyon Bychkov have chosen Rachmaninoff.
