The young pianist Akari Bastiaens (14) will perform as a soloist with the Philips Symphony Orchestra in Grieg’s beloved Piano Concerto. After intermission, the orchestra shines in Zemlinsky’s Die Seejungfrau, an enchanting symphonic poem. The concert opens with the energetic and humorous overture to Ethel Smyth’s opera The Boatswain’s Mate.
